Wow, time sure flies when you are having fun!!! I cann't believe that Isabella and I have been here for two weeks! I have decided that I will not write too much but will let all the photos tell the story.

1) Packing before we left...Isabella thought it might be cheaper to go in the suitcase but there wasn't enough room!

2) At the airport...getting excited!

3, 4, 5) on the plane- Isabella is still small enough for a little bed...yippee...she slept for about 5 hours out of the 8.5! And she never cried on take off or landing...amazing!!!

Another month goes by

So another month and another visit to the midwife. Isabella just keeps getting bigger and bigger...although, I guess that is the point with babies. It really wouldn't do for them to regress or to stay so little. She is now 7.37kg (16lbs 4 oz) and a whopping 4cm (1.5inches) more than last month- 65.5cm (25 3/4inches). No wonder none of her clothes fit!!! She was showing off her new skill of rolling over for the midwife. She showed that she could do it either way, left or right. Little show off. That is when the midwife got out the needle and showed her who was boss...well, not really, she had her second lot of vaccinations today. I was unable to stop the tears as I had done last time...I think that she is wiseing up to this needle lark after the first round of vaccinations and her recent blood test. No fooling her anymore.

The two of us are preparing for our trip to Canada- half packed...still lots of laundry to do. There is so much to take since we will be there for a whole month. I am looking forward to introducing her to so many new people. Some of them will even be willing to babysit!!! Can't wait for that.

About the photos...I just thought that I would add a couple of pics since we haven't had any in the last couple of posts. She isn't as huge as she looks in the second photo- she is wearing one of her more bulky re-usable diapers.

Big Weekend

Wel, well...this sure has been a big weekend. I was able to make some shower gel, bath melts and lip balm but more importantly, Isabella rolled over for the first time- she did that yesterday evening a couple of times- of course while I was in the kitchen. She was the entertainment for a couple of guests that Taneli had over! So they got to see it, but I didn't...not that I am bitter. Much.

Now she seems to be doing it at will...and it is only 12 hours later.
Well, I had a video and I have tried to upload it but it isn't working for some reason. Too bad...

First blood test

Today we went to the laboratory today at the local health station (as they are called here) and Isabella had a blood test. I had requested it from the Dr because I don't seem to be getting anywhere in finding out why her skin is so dry. Her head is always itchy and she has scratches from where she has had a few minutes of hand freedom...normally I have to either have her mittens on or a hat on her head. So I asked the Dr to check about a milk allergy...as they can't seem to figure out why the ultra moisturising cream they prescribed isn't working.

I didn't realise what I was signing up for. Going into the lab I had no idea how they were take the blood...so I put her in a short sleeve/short leg one-piece. Easy access for any limb! It was only when I got into the little room that it hit me that they would basically have to hold her down. The woman who took the blood was surprised how much blood she needed to draw...it was a big vial! As my heart dropped she strapped up Isabella's left arm, just like they would do for an adult and then a second nurse came in to hold her arm straight...the rest of the body was mine! It was terrible. I never thought that I would cry when someone else was having blood drawn...but I did. She screamed so much...and I couldn't handle it. It didn't take too long afterwards to calm her down. I think because she had expended so much energy during the process, she soon fell asleep in her stroller once we were on our way. Too bad there wasn't someone pushing me so I could have taken a nap! I think that they said that we just have to wait 2 days...then we call and get the results.

Moral of the story... be careful what you ask for from your Dr...you might just get it! And it is true...I think that it did hurt me more that her...but I am not sure that Isabella would agree.
