My New Chair

Isabella has been using her new Bumbo chair to showcase her ability to hold up her own head...as well as her Finnish-ness. At the Midwife last week we were told that Isabella needed to do some time on her belly...what my friend Ailsa calls "tummy time". This is to help strengthen her neck and back...so we have been doing that everyday which Isabella hates but she is getting better quite fast. So that is good. Isabella also met her Uncle Juho this weekend. He came for a short visit with Taneli's Dad. As for a quick update...Isabella is now 6.8kg (15lbs) and 61.5cm (just over 24 inches).

Don't they grow up fast

Isabella took her first steps to independence two days ago when she received her first passport! She will be off travelling in no time. In fact, she will be off in one month to Canada. But lucky for her, she will have me to carry her bags...and her. You can see that she is happy and proud to have her first passport. She will have her first stamp in no time. Then the sky is our limit! Well, so is money...but maybe she can get a part-time job to pay for her trips! hahaha

Holding your head up high

Well, it has been a while...nothing terribly exciting has happened here lately. Isabella pretty much has holding her head up down pat...and every time you lay her down, she is trying to sit up. So there is progress there. She also seems to like watching TV a little too much. It was really funny when the Crocodile Hunter was on and she was watching it and a crocodile jumped out of the water and she nearly fell off my knee because it scared her! The past couple of days I have put her out on the balcony to sleep for naps during the day (photo 2). I can say that it is pretty darn successful...yesterday, the first day, she slept there for 5.5 hours!!! Crazy! I put her out there today but she was sleeping so much and we needed to be somewhere that I had to take her out. Otherwise who knows how long she would have slept today- she didn't eat between 8:00am and 3:30! No idea why...other than she spent most of that time sleeping. In photo 3 you can see that she has also made a friend in Wiggly Pig. She sure does like to hold him...as she does Green Bear. But she usually takes the bear to bed. And just yesterday, she surprised us all and we found out that she can now read in Finnish and has taken a great interest in international and more local news (photo 4). You can see in the photo that her and Taneli can now share the newspaper. I wonder how Taneli will do with the sharing part though.
