New Year 2010

2010 was celebrated by Isabella, ourselves, and our neighbours together. Natu and his mother Mia came over after our 6pm outdoor celebrations. Isabella, as usual, enjoyed her snow eating...even while saying (with a twinkle in her eye) "no eating snow!". We had some large sparklers as you can see in the background of one of the photos and everytime she heard a big bang she said "fire truck" I think she mis-heard me when I said firework.

After our short outside exploits (it was about -15) Natu and Mia came over to visit and eat some food. Isabella had some fun playing with Natu but it seemed to come to a natural end when Isabella continued to jump on the couch and ended up hitting her face on the corner of the arm. She got a nit of a shiner and there was a lovely impression of the fabric left in the bruise.

New year's day was spend mostly inside but we did head out for a little walk and snow-castle making.

The time in between

This holiday season has been great fun for Isabella. She has had fun making silly faces, learning new puzzles and having fun in the snow (when it hasn't been too cold). These first few photos are the eventual lunch she had after our sledding. The puzzle photo is of the puzzle that she mastered in two days! It is truely amazing. This is a 33 piece puzzle that is for kids 4+ and she could do it in two days. She has a few jokes that she plays when doing puzzles, one is to pretend to put it in the wrong spot and say (in Finnish) "no, it doesn't go there" and the other one is to hide a piece under her butt and pretend she doesn't know where it is. She then laughs so hard when you say "oh, its under your butt!" Her little jokes!

A visit to Jaana's

We went to go visit Jaana during our little break and we had a chance to go sledding. That was lots of fun. First we went to Jaana's house and Isabella was pretty good. She really enjoyed the cookie with her name on it. And she even enjoyed the snowball that Taneli threw and accidently bonked her in the head...(she got to eat some snow so she was happy). Then at the hill we slid down a few times (some times more successful than others). The least successful time was when Taneli went with her and his feet kept bumping the snow (and every time that happened, Isabella got a snow shower). So that run ended in tears. But right back on the horse (or sled if you will) and she was having a good time again. We hadn't yet had any lunch since we went to Jaana'a at about 10am. But we weren't in the car for 2 mins when Isabella had fallen asleep on the way home so lunch had to wait until she woke up 3 hours later!

A tale of two Christmases

Christmas was a two day affair in our house. I guess that it is something that we will have to start doing. There were so many gifts that I took a decision that we would split them up. The obvious divide was between Finnish gifts and "foreign" gifts especially since we celebrate Christmas on different days. So she got to have her Finnish Xmas pressies on Christmas Eve and the others on Christmas Day.

This year she enjoyed hanging out with Santa and she loved her piglet that she got. She now takes him to bed every night. It is just the right size!
