Trying something new

So it seems that Isabella is not content with being just part Finnish, Canadian, English, and Irish...she has been trying some new stuff. Last week she was trying out being from India as you will see from the mark she gave herself between her eyes...I didn't have the heart to tell her that you had to be married before you got one of those! She will be disappointed when she finds out. But that seems to have passed now anyway...and she is trying something a little different. Yet again, she seems to have got the wrong end of the stick. How can I tell her that only the men wear
that head garment in the Middle East? We are all on the edge of our seats waiting to see what she will want to try next!

Black Thursday

Many of you will have been celebrating Valentine's Day in some shape or form- all pink, red and hearts everywhere (excuse me while I puke)...but not for us. Today was Black Thursday...(said with that movie preview man's voice to make it sound dramatic). That is because we went to the Midwife today and Isabella had her first vaccination. The midwife made me an accomplice in this event by making me hold her arms and leg. She seemed fine at first and then the realisation set in and the bottom lip started to tremble...but I was able to avert any tears by distracting her with lots of kisses. She was also weighed and now weighs 6.1kg (13.4 lbs)...she was measured also but I never got that number...probably the shock of the day. Maybe I will call tomorrow and ask. Tomorrow we will head back to the Canadian Embassy (for the third time!!!!) and hopefully the paperwork will finally be in order so that we can start the process for her passport.
After she had her vaccination we came home and I dressed her in a nice outfit so that she could feel good. She went with her Daddy to his work for a short time and then off to Aunty Lotta's house. She was able to wear the lovely cardie that was sent by Catherine and Euan in Scotland- from Monsoon even...nice! Thought that this photo would be nice because you can see how pretty the cardie is and her lovely blonde hair!

I am also adding a few photos just because I like them. The first one is of Isabella finally holding her head up for more than a second. I really like this photo. The next one is just her being herself...she is a pretty darn happy soul...not sure where she gets that from! hahaha As you can see, Vernita is always on hand and available to have a chat.

Talking to Vernita

Most of you will not know Vernita...she is my Cabbage Patch Kid- I got her when I was quite young. She is still around. I have put her on the sofa next to where Isabella lays during the day and has her naps. I have added the photo I took of the two of them when she first came home and the one I just took this week. You can see how much she has grown. But that is not the reason for this post...I have caught Isabella talking to her a few times. I have even used my camera and recorded her...it is so funny...she is making her oohs and aahs...the same ones that she makes when we talk to her. She seems confused as to why Vernita isn't responding like we would do. I wish that it didn't take so long to upload the videos...then I would. And if any of you doubted that Isabella was involved in creating this blog...think again!

My First Passport Photo...and KELA Card

Since I booked our flights to Canada for April, I thought that I should get onto that pesky passport for Isabella. It is funny because that involves a passport photo...and now there are so many regulations that your head may explode trying to meet all of the criteria...thus defeating the purpose of all those criteria!

So there I was...a newly minted 11 week old baby in hand (literally) and we were trying to stand her up...get her to keep her head still without holding it...look at the camera...and not be in the shot at all myself! I was obviously thinking on the right level (without knowing it) earlier in the day when I dressed her because if I had put her in a one-piece suit, I wouldn't have been able to hide my hands at all...but luckily she was wearing the lovely two-piece suit from her Aunty Lotta. So my hands were underneath her her top...so she may look chunkier than she actually is. The guy there said that he wasn't able to do anything about the extra chin...I thought that she might appreciate that in later years, but, alas, it was not to be...not that I was serious...but the guy at the photo place didn't seem to get the humour! So that is my pearl of wisdom for all those wishing to get a passport photo of a young baby...two-piece suits...and then you can cover your hands! Maybe everyone knew that already...oh well.

In Finland you are given a KELA Card...it is an important card. It is your medical card that guarantees you free medical services and also you need it at the pharmacy for your medications...so we were excited when her first one arrived...and so was she...on the inside.
